Every cold and flu season, the wellness industry floods the market with immune-boosting products: supplements, detoxes, superfoods, and protocols that promise to fortify your defenses. Most of them are either ineffective, or effective only because they’re addressing deficiencies caused by poor lifestyle habits in the first place.
Here’s the truth: you cannot “boost” a healthy immune system by taking supplements. The immune system is extraordinarily complex — it’s not a muscle you can strengthen with the right exercise. What you can do is avoid suppressing it through poor lifestyle habits, ensure you’re not deficient in key nutrients that immune function depends on, and create the conditions under which your immune system operates optimally.
How the Immune System Actually Works
